The Japanese Olympiad in Informatics |
The Japanese Committee for the IOI is a nonprofit organization, one of the activities of which is to host JOI, the Japanese Olympiad in Informatics.
JOI is a competition to be held annually to select and educate students enrolled in highschools or lower grade schools in Japan, who are talented in Informatics (Computer Science) as well as programming.
Those who have high ability in the area are selected according to competitions in two rounds and a one-week training camp following the competitions, aiming to participate in IOI, the International Olympiad in Informatics.
The Japanese Committee for the IOI was established in 1993. We hosted the first JOI in 1994 through the fourth JOI in 1997, until a financial difficulty made us give up continuation. After a decade of suspension, we resumed our activity in 2005 to host the fifth JOI.
